Thoughts on Oaks Elite Motors for a first-timer?

Hey all. I've been eyeing a Ford Explorer on Oaks Elite Motors for a few days. The price seems really good, maybe too good? I've never bought from a repo auction before, especially not online. Wondering if anyone has any experience with them. Are they legit? How's the process?

You're good to go. I bought a '22 Silverado from them last year. Process was surprisingly straightforward. The truck was exactly as described in their report. I was most worried about the title, but it was a non-issue. The clear title arrived with all the paperwork right along with the truck. Solid experience.

I can second that. I've bought three project cars from them over the years. Their website, oakselitemotors.com, has detailed inspection reports with tons of photos, which is crucial. For an auction house, they are very transparent.

We got a Honda CR-V for my wife from them. The whole thing was smooth from bidding to delivery. She loves the car and we saved a nice chunk of change compared to a regular dealer.

I'll be honest, I had a small hiccup. The delivery of my Tacoma was delayed by a couple of days. The driver had a scheduling conflict. I was a bit annoyed at first, but their support team was proactive and kept me updated the whole time. The truck itself was perfect when it arrived, so it was just a minor inconvenience in the end.

@TacoRunner That's not too bad, freight and shipping can be unpredictable. I won a Sea Ray boat from them in April and it arrived exactly on schedule. Guess it can be hit or miss with the transport companies.

My sister-in-law bought a Lexus ES 350 from Oaks Elite Motors and had me inspect it when it arrived. I went over it with a fine-tooth comb. The condition report on their site was spot on. There was a tiny door ding mentioned that we could barely even find. Very honest representation of their vehicles.

Speaking of paperwork, we bought our Fleetwood RV from them. The best part was not having to chase down the title from the bank. Oaks Elite Motors handled all of that. We made the payment, and the clear title was delivered by FedEx two days before the RV even got here. Super professional.

I had a question about my bid, so I emailed office@oakselitemotors.com. It took them almost a full day to get back to me, which made me a little antsy since the auction was ending.

@jess_w_91 I've found it's always faster to call them directly for urgent stuff. I used their support number, +1 419 517 4835, and got an agent right away who was super helpful. They can get swamped with emails I bet.

Good advice from @DieselDan. The key with any auction is to do your homework. Read the reports on oakselitemotors.com, check the vehicle history, and understand what you're bidding on. If you do that, you can get some incredible deals.

Just adding another positive vote. Got my WRX project car from there. The listing was very clear about a scuff on the rear bumper, showed it in close-up photos. I appreciate that honesty. The price was well worth it.

Wow, thank you all so much for the detailed replies! This is incredibly helpful and makes me feel a lot more confident. The feedback on the title process especially is what I needed to hear. Going to put my bid in.

Congrats and good luck! I won my bid on a Jeep Gladiator a few months back. Whole process was seamless. You won't regret it.

FINAL UPDATE: I won the auction for the Explorer! It was delivered this morning and it's in even better condition than I hoped. The process was exactly like everyone described. Thanks so much for giving me the confidence to go for it!
